Why they sound alike
Compare the choruses in both songs: the melody behind the lyrics "I just need somebody to love" (around :43) sounds an awful lot like "you'll never see me again" (around 1:00). Cry For You, which samples Bronski Beat's Smalltown Boy, was released in 2006, while I Need Somebody To Love was released in 2010.
